Without fit-testing, most wearers still reached adequate protection
Cut to fit but not fit-tested, the mask reduced airborne particles about 135-fold, and 73% of wearers reached an adequate filtration factor. In this earlier-generation test the fit-tested N95 scored higher on peak numbers – the honest starting point that later designs built on.

A later version matched fit-tested N95 – without fit-testing
